COVID-19 hits 2 more overseas Filipinos; total now at 20,424 --- DFA


The number of overseas Filipinos who have contracted coronavirus disease (COVID-19) rose to 20,424 on Saturday, June 19, as two new cases were recorded, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

The DFA also reported three new recoveries and no new fatality among Filipinos abroad.

With no new deaths, the daily tally remained at 1,220, while the new recoveries brought the total number of those who recovered and discharged from hospitals to 12,096.

The number of Filipinos currently being treated abroad for the infectious disease now stands at 7,108.

COVID-positive Filipinos were found in 94 countries around the world, according to the DFA.

Of those infected, 11,532 are in the Middle East and Africa, 4,376 are in the Asia-Pacific region, 3,530 in Europe, and 986 in the Americas.
