Cheaper delivery expenses await Bukidnon farmers with completion of agri road

Transportation time and expenses for the delivery of farm produce to local markets in Quezon, Bukidnon is expected to be reduced after a farm-to-market road was completed in the area.

"Speedy, convenient and safe travel is now experienced by farmers of Barangay Butong, Quezon, Bukidnon with the recently-completed farm-to-market by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)," Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said as he announced the completion of the road project Saturday, June 19.

The P12.9-million agricultural road project involved the concreting of the 654-meter local road with 1.5-meter shoulder on both sides. It also included the installation of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, removal and installation of cross drainage with pipe end structures, removal and construction of grouted riprap line canal drainages and removal of obstructing trees.

“Concrete roads will surely improve product delivery of Barangay Butong farmers and hopefully, will double their income with lower transportation cost,” Villar said.

“Farm-to-market roads are being constructed by DPWH in coordination with the Department of Agriculture to further promote inclusive growth by developing infrastructure that improves the living condition and livelihood of our farmers especially in far-flung areas,” he added.
