LOOK: PCG's BRP Gabriela Silang looking sharp en route to new mission

After conducting several maritime exercises in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) last month, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)’s BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) embarked on another voyage for a new mission on Friday, June 18.

In a statement, the PCG said the offshore patrol vessel is set to participate in the third leg of the capability enhancement training being led by the Task Force "Pagsasanay."

Before it sailed, the BRP Gabriela Silang replenished its supplies while docked at the South Harbor in Port Area, Manila before heading towards its next mission.

While the PCG did not disclose where the vessel is heading, PCG Spokesperson Armand Ballilo said last month that the third phase of the drills would be held in Batanes and Philippine Rise near Aurora.

The Coast Guard bared that the third phase of the maritime exercises will be followed by humanitarian missions to “one of the most remote coastal communities” in the country.

In May, the PCG conducted humanitarian activities in Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan as part of the second phase of capability enhancement training in the West Philippine Sea.
