Lea Salonga gets Pfizer jab in Muntinlupa

Singer and actress Lea Salonga, who became a Broadway star through the musical “Miss Saigon,” was vaccinated in Muntinlupa Friday.

“First dose, done! #BakunadoProtektado #Pfizer,” the 50-year-old star posted on Facebook.

Salonga, a resident of Ayala Alabang Village, was inoculated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as part of the A3 priority group, or persons with comorbidities.

At the Muntinlupa City government’s vaccination site at Festival Mall upper ground level covered parking area, Salonga, who registered with the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac), waited for her turn. She lined up and presented her medical certificate.

Last June 1, celebrity couple Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez, and their kids Atasha and Andres, who are all Ayala Alabang Village residents, were vaccinated at the Festival Mall site.

The Muntinlupa City government received Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines from the national government, which came from the COVAX facility.

As part of the guidelines, it is being used by Muntinlupa for A1 (health workers), A2 (senior citizens), A3 (persons with comorbidities), and A5 (poor population) priority groups.

“Vaccination for priority group A4 will be opened once we receive supply of vaccines for our economic frontliners,” MunCoVac announced.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi has encouraged Muntinlupa residents to get vaccinated as protection against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Muntinlupa City government is aiming to complete the vaccination of the target population of 385,725 by November this year.

As of June 15, the city government has administered 115,846 doses of the vaccine. Of the total, 82,285 individuals got their first dose, or 23.1 percent of the target population, while 26,561 individuals received their second dose.

To date, 172,732 individuals have already registered with Muntinlupa’s COVID-19 vaccination program, representing 44.8 percent of the target population.
