Z-GIRLS' Carlyn Ocampo announces she is pregnant, scraps plan to go back to Korea

Carlyn Ocampo, a Filipino member of the pop group Z-GIRLS that was launched in Korea in 2019, announced that she is pregnant.

Z-GIRLS and Z-BOYS debuted in Korea on Feb. 23, 2019 during the Z-POP Dream Live 2019 in Seoul held at Jamsil Indoor Stadium.

Carlyn debuted in Z-GIRLS together with Mahiro from Japan, Vanya from Indonesia, Priyanka from India, Bell from Thailand, Joanne from Taiwan and Queen from Vietnam. Z-GIRLS released their debut song “What You Waiting For”

Joanne left the group in June last year due to health reasons and last month, it was announced that Mahiro was leaving the Z-POP Dream project.

On her Instagram account, Ocampo made the announcement that she is expecting a baby with Von Ordoña.

“Welcoming our little one in December,” she posted on Instagram along with ultrasound images of the baby.

Ordoña documented the announcement in a video he posted on his YouTube account. They announced the big news during Ordoña’s birthday party on a yacht last June 9.

“Three months na po na pregnant si Carlyn (Carlyn is three months pregnant),” Ordoña told their family and friends.

He said sorry to Ocampo’s family, saying the pregnancy was not planned.

“Gusto kong i-take yung chance na ito para humingi ng pasensiya kasi sa part ng family ni Carlyn, kila mama, papa. Hindi ko po talaga plano. Wala po sa plano namin ni Carlyn pero God’s plan po ito (I want to take this chance to ask for forgiveness from Carlyn’s family, to mama, papa. I didn’t plan this. This was not part of our plan but this is God’s plan),” he said.

Ocampo said her plan to go back to Korea is now gone but thanked her family for their support.

“Siyempre kasi alam nila aalis pa ako. Pupunta pa ako ng Korea. And wala, wala na talaga yung plano na yon as in burado na kasi next level na to, next stage, next chapter ng buhay namin Kasama ko si Von. And I am so happy, I’m very, very happy and walang regrets. (Because they knew I was leaving. I was supposed to go to Korea. That plan is already gone because this is now the next level, next stage, next chapter of our lives. I’m now with Von. And I am so happy. I’m very, very happy and I don’t have regrets),” she said.

Back in 2019, Zenith Media Contents CEO Kang Jun said Z-Pop Dream’s goal was to have cultural exchange in Asia.

"I would like to brand a concert that ties Asia together," he said, according to the Korea Times. “Z” in the project refers to Generation Z.
