PCG conducts seagrass monitoring, installs marker buoys for Cavite fish sanctuaries

Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and volunteer divers conducted sea grass monitoring and also installed improvised marker buoys off the waters of Barangay Patungan, Maragondon, Cavite on Tuesday, June 15.

The PCG said the initiative aims to conserve and protect the natural resources of the province’s vast waters.

They also installed two improvised marker buoys in Maragondon Fish Sanctuary and Patungan Coral Garden to indicate that these areas are being preserved by the local government.

“In collaboration with the PCG Station Cavite, residents can rely on the protection of the province's natural resources by implementing various initiatives, such as coastal clean-up, underwater clean-up, mangrove planting, maritime patrol, and maritime law enforcement against illegal fishing in Cavite waters,” the PCG said in a statement.

The project was also made successful in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Maragondon local government, and Cavite State University.
