Navotas City starts vaccinating bedridden residents, A5 group

The local government of Navotas City started inoculating bedridden residents against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday.



Thirty bedridden senior citizens from Barangay Tangos North and South received their first dose of the vaccine at their homes.



“We extended the city government’s vaccination services to bedridden Navoteños, most of whom are senior citizens, to ensure they are protected against the deadly virus,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.



“Even if they always remain at home, COVID-19 infection and household transmission is still possible as long as their family members are doing transactions and activities outside. We put a premium on the health of Navoteños and we are willing to go the extra mile to keep them safe and well,” he added.



The local government also started vaccinating residents under the A5 category or the indigent population.



The mayor said 160 members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were inoculated with Pfizer at the Tumana Health Center.


“We are exerting all efforts for Pfizer to reach the poorest of the poor. We have sought the help of our 4Ps coordinator to bring our indigent constituents to the vaccination site,” Tiangco said.



As of Wednesday (June 16), 56,673 residents and workers have received their first dose of COVID vaccines.
