House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez is not discounting the possibility of him running in tandem with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte in the 2022 elections.

Romualdez said he and his party would be open to running with the presidential daughter should they decide to run for the Philippines' highest elective positions.
"We haven't made any final decisions yet but we will consider all candidates," he said in an online press conference Thursday, June 17, when asked about their possible tandem.
Romualdez's political party, the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), is allied with the Davao City mayor's Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) regional party.
He said the Lakas-CMD and HNP are "looking forward to strenghtening" their alliance for the 2022 elections.
Still, Romualdez said he does not want to preempt Duterte, who has yet to decide whether or not to join the presidential race.
"Ayaw nating unahan (We don't want to preempt), she has to make her final decision on the matter. But definitely Inday Sara, her brand of leadership, pwede talaga sa national (is really qualified for a national post), but we don't want to pre-empt," he said.
"I'm not even decided myself on a national run, but definitely, it is something we will be considering," he added.
But how about the possible bid of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, his cousin, in the 2022 polls?
Romualdez, nephew of former first lady Imelda Marcos, said he is "very sensitive to everyone's decision and their plans".
Marcos had announced his plan to again run for a national post next year although he and his camp remained mum on the specific position he will vie for.
In 2016, Marcos ran for vice president but lost to Vice President Leni Robredo.
Romualdez said that anyway, he is "always in consultation and dialogue" with Marcos, as well as Duterte, about their plans and "how we can all work together", particularly in addressing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic to the country.
Romualdez has secured the support of President Duterte if he runs for vice president next year.
He admitted that Duterte's endorsement and guidance will be significant in making his decision.
