DSWD employees belonging to A4 priority group start receiving COVID-19 jab
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination of the 100 employees of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) who belong to the A4 priority group has already started.

The DSWD announced that the A4 vaccination among its employees has begun, describing it as a “milestone”.
“Ganap nang nagsimula ang pagbabakuna kontra-COVID 19 sa 100 empleyado ng DSWD na kabilang sa A4 priority group ((The vaccination against COVID-19 of 100 DSWD employees belonging to the A4 priority group has officially started),” it said in a Facebook post on Wednesday, June 16.
It said most of employees who were prioritized in the vaccination come from the Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU), a special unit of DSWD that serves as an action center to immediately respond to the needs of individuals and families in crisis situations.

The CIUs are located at the Central Office (CO), Field Offices (FO) and/or DSWD satellite offices in the provinces.
As an expression of its all-out support to Duterte government’s vaccination program, the DSWD participated in the ceremonial vaccination of essential workers and economic frontliners under the A4 priority group on June 7 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
Five DSWD frontliners from the National Resource Logistics Management Bureau got their COVID-19 jabs during the symbolic vaccination, led by Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III.
Crestian Maizo, one of the volunteer-vaccinees, cited the importance for frontliners like him who are required to physically report to work to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Interesado ako magpa-vaccine para makaiwas sa infection at hindi madaling mahawaan. Para safety na rin ng aking pamilya, dalawa akong anak at asawa. Araw-araw kasi akong pumapasok” (I would like to get vaccinated to protect myself from getting the virus. It is also for the safety of my family. I have two children and a wife. This is important most especially for someone who reports to office everyday like me), he said.
Despite having hypertension, the 35-year-old DSWD employee said he did not think twice about receiving the vaccine.
“Tama pala ang desisyon ko dahil kahit may maintenance, hindi naman daw makakaapekto. Puwede pa rin ituloy ang pag-inom ng gamot” (My decision to get inoculated was right. They said that the vaccine does not react with the maintenance medicines. So, I can still take them), he said.
The DSWD assured the public that the agency will continue coordinating with and assisting the Department of Health (DOH) in cascading the necessary and relevant information regarding the government’s vaccination program.
