33-year-old man arrested for cementing, burying lover

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly stabbing to death, cementing, and burying his supposed girlfriend in the basement of her house in Quezon City.

Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra on Wednesday night identified the suspect as Emmanuel De Guia, who was tagged in the killing of 50-year-old Ma. Therese Caballero.

De Guia was also tagged in the wounding of Caballero's daughter, 22-year-old Theffanie Caballero, and the kidnapping of the younger Caballeros' minor son, Yarra added.

The incident happened at around 2 a.m. on June 9 in Barangay Bagong Silang when De Guia, "who is said to be a lover" of the older Caballero, went to the victims' home and suddenly stabbed them multiple times. He was with his friend, Nelbert Saz, when he committed the crime, police said.

"Ma. Theresa was secretly buried under the stair at the basement of the house while Theffannie was left helpless at the basement," police said.

While recuperating at the hospital, the younger Caballero told her relatives about the incident and sought assistance from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

QCPD operatives rushed to the victims' house where they discovered the older Caballero's body, which was cemented under the stairs of the basement.

Police said they did a follow up operation at De Guia's house in Barangay Parang in Marikina City that led to his arrest and the rescue of the son of the younger Cabellero, who was abducted during the escape.

The victims' car was recovered by police at De Guia's house while its keys were recovered from his friend, Elmer Mina.

De Guia is now facing charges of robbery with homicide, frustrated murder, kidnapping of minor, and carnapping.

Meanwhile, Mina is facing obstruction of justice charges.

Police are still hunting down Saz who is reportedly hiding in San Mateo, Rizal.
