DOT to domestic tourists: Follow rules, be responsible
With tourist destinations reopening its doors to the public left and right, the Department of Tourism (DOT) reiterated on Wednesday, June 16 its reminder to domestic tourists to be responsible travelers.

"The DOT reminds everyone that compliance to the prescribed health guidelines and safety protocol is a shared responsibility," the agency said in a statement on Wednesday, June 16.
This, after the DOT received reports of tourists presenting fake travel documents such as forged reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results, as well as identification cards.
According to the DOT, some guests were also found holding unauthorized gatherings in several tourist destinations in the country.
The tourism department also called on its partners in the industry to strictly enforce the health protocols to ensure the safety not only of the guests but also of the frontliners and the host community.
"It is imperative that all stakeholders — government agencies, the local government units (LGUs), private tourism enterprises, guests, and other industry players — will work together to ensure the swift recovery of the tourism industry," the DOT added.
President Duterte ordered on Monday, June 14, the arrest of individuals who will present fake swab test results as a travel requirement.
In his pre-recorded public address, Duterte directed the DOT, the Philippine National Police (PNP), and concerned LGUs to arrest erring tourists who will present falsified travel documents.
The Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases earlier allowed leisure travel for as long as domestic tourists present negative test results for COVID-19 and comply with health and safety guidelines.
