Marikina can achieve herd immunity in 3 weeks if given 'steady vaccine supply' - Mayor Marcy

Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro said the city can achieve herd immunity within 17 days or in three weeks if there is a “steady vaccine supply.”

In an interview with DZMM on Tuesday (June 15), Teodoro said around 100, 000 individuals have been vaccinated in the city which is more than half of its target population of 270,000.

If the vaccine supply becomes steady, Teodoro said the city will maximize its vaccination rollout to inoculate 7,000 to 10,000 individuals a day.

Currently, the city can inoculate around 3,000 to 3,500 per day, depending on the vaccine supply.

“Hopefully, ngayong linggo, sa mga susunod na linggo, steady na yung supply ng bakuna (Hopefully, this week, or in the coming weeks, the supply of the vaccines will become steady),” the mayor said.

Marikina, with the national government's approval, is currently deploying allocated second doses for the first dose.

On Monday, Marikina received 11,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
