Voice actor and social media darling Inka Magnaye defended Liza Soberano who was criticized for lending her voice to the Filipino anime "Trese."

In a lengthy Twitter thread, Inka noted how the voice of the 23-year-old star is "perfect for the character."

Inka noted how it got a great balance of "youthfulness" and "grim." Though she thinks a bit more "exaggeration" could have added more dimension.

"But other than that, I’m liking it so far!," she declared.

Inka also refuted the allegations that Liza has a "monotonous" speaking voice.

She pointed out how the Kapamilya artist has "dynamics" in her delivery.

"However, she DOES tend to deliver her lines in almost the exact same cadence, and people confuse that with monotony," she said.

"Seeing as she is an actor and not really a voice actor, whoever was directing her during the recording sessions could have guided her a little more to explore different deliveries, but that’s just what I think. We don’t know din how things were while they were recording so I’m just speculating. Anyways, these are just my thoughts!"

Inka also noted how one could be a great actor when it comes to their physicality— their face and body perfectly conveying the necessary feeling. But, sometimes, the voice acting can fall short because people can see their face anyway.

It's the difference between acting and voice acting, Inka related.

"Because people can’t see your face, the expressions need to be heard in your voice," she explained.

"Been switching between the different dubs as I watch. It’s a little strange how she reads the Fil incantations, but I like how Shay Mitchell does the deadpan badass delivery! Deadpan blase, deadpan annoyed, deadpan snarky. The little nuances are so satisfying.

"This is the nuance that Liza Soberano’s dub would have benefited from, but it’s not that easy to do so it’s understandable! Not even all VAs can do that. It’s something very trainable though, and an actress like her will surely be able to get that down with practice!"

She also loves how Netflix kept the Filipino accent for all the other characters. Inka admitted it was so interesting to hear.

Note that "Trese" topped the Netflix charts.

The film featuring the Philippines' rich mythology is an adaptation of the Filipino horror comic by Budjette Tan and illustrations by Kajo Baldisimo.

It follows Alexandra Trese (Liza), a detective who deals with crimes of supernatural origin.
