OCTA Research sees Dumaguete COVID-19 surge a 'most serious concern'

Independent research group OCTA flagged Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental as the area with the "most serious concern" due to "still surging" coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases over the past week.

In its report released on Monday, June 14, OCTA said Dumaguete City logged a 129 percent one-week growth rate and an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of almost 70 per 100,000 population, which classifies the area as "extremely high-risk" to infections.

OCTA also flagged other "areas of concern" due to increasing cases, high hospital occupancy, and high ADAR.

These include Iloilo City (Iloilo), Butuan City (Agusan del Norte), Tacloban City (Leyte), and Polomolok (South Cotabato).

The group also noted "emerging hotspots" due to rapid one-week growth rates or very high ADAR. These are Tagum City (Davao del Norte), Legazpi City (Albay), and Tagbilaran City (Bohol).

ICU occupancy, meanwhile, is at critical levels or above 85 percent, in Davao City (Davao del Sur), Iloilo City, General Santos City (South Cotabato), Tuguegarao City (Cagayan), and Koronadal City (South Cotabato).
