Negative COVID test needed for entry to Cebu from Negros provinces, Bohol

CEBU CITY – Travelers from Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, and Bohol will have to present a negative COVID-19 test when entering Cebu.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia issued Executive Order No. 22 on Independence Day ordering that travelers arriving in Cebu must show a negative RT-PCR test 72 hours before departure or a negative Rapid Antigen Test taken at least 48 hours before departure from the place of origin.

The EO took effect Monday, June 14, and will be effective until July 24, 2021 "unless further extended." The issuance of the EO was based on the Department of Health (DOH) data showing the three provinces as currently having the highest number of active COVID-19 cases in the country.

"In a meeting with the regional director of the Department of Health, the regional director of the Department of Interior and Local Government, and a representative of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, it was agreed that there is an urgent need to heighten restrictions upon all persons entering the Province of Cebu who originate from the Province of Bohol, the Province of Negros Oriental," Garcia said in the EO.

The EO cited that as of June 11 based on DOH Region 7 (Central Visayas) data, Negros Oriental had 2,871 active COVID-19 cases while Bohol had 1,261.

"And due to the contiguity of the Province of Negros Occidental with the Province of Negros Oriental, it was further agreed that all persons originating from the Province of Negros Occidental shall also be subjected to the similar restrictions," the lady governor said.
