Special voter registration for men, boys set

Calling all men and boys.

The Commission Elections (Comelec) will have a special voter registration for men and boys in celebration of Father's Day.

In a Facebook post Sunday, June 13, the Comelec-Gender and Development Office (GAD) said the three-day voter registration will be held from June 21 to 23.

Those who wish to register may go to the Comelec local office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Last March, the poll body also conducted a special voter registration for women and girls in celebration of National Women's Month.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez last month urged qualified voters to register early and not wait for the last minute.

"It's important to register early. The problem before was its already crowded at the end," he said.

Jimenez expressed hope that more individuals will heed their call as satellite voter registration activities have already been allowed.

"Registration can already be done outside local Comelec offices. Many will hopefully get registered because it is more convenient for the people," he said.

Voter registration period for the May 2022 national and local polls will run until Sept. 30, 2021.
