Kuku's T1 falls to PSG.LGD, faces Abed's Evil Geniuses for last AniMajor grand finals spot

Filipino captain Carlo "Kuku" Palad and his T1 squad fell short against Chinese powerhouse PSG.LGD, 2-1, in the WePlay AniMajor upper bracket finals early Sunday morning, June 13 (PH time).

After a lopsided loss in the series opener, T1 managed to overcome a 13K gold deficit and eventually force a decider behind Filipino mid laner Karl "Karl" Jayme's brilliant performance on his signature Puck in Game 2.

Karl came through with crucial Dream Coil catches while Thai carry Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon's Monkey King dealt most of the damage on LGD heroes in the winning team fight on the 44th minute mark.

Also known as Santino, the 11K MMR mid laner put up 12 kills and 20 assists with only three deaths in the thrilling 38-30 victory.

However, Karl's Puck got totally shut down by Zhao "XinQ" Zixing's Nyx Assassin which enabled Wang "Ame" Chunyu's Wraith King and Cheng "NothingToSay" Jin Xiang's Leshrac to be beefy early in Game 3 and eventually take charge of the 23-6 win in 35 minutes.

With the loss, the reigning Southeast Asian kings dropped to the best-of-three lower bracket finals where they will take on Filipino star mid laner Abed "Abed" Yusop and the streaking Evil Geniuses later at 9 p.m.

Following their 2-1 triumph over all-Filipino team TNC Predator, the North American giants sustained their scorching lower bracket run by sweeping European powerhouse Team Nigma, 2-0, and pulling off a 2-1 reverse sweep over Chinese squad Vici Gaming.

The winner between T1 and EG will battle PSG.LGD in the best-of-five grand finals for the title in the second Dota 2 Major tourney of the year prior to The International 10 and the top prize of $200,000 (P9.5 million).
