Future artists?: 14 students from Silay South Elementary School hailed for PH flag artworks
The Department of Education (DEpEd) has hailed the creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness of 14 elementary students in Negros Occidental for making their own version of Philippine flag out of surgical mask, plastic straw, and recycled materials.

In a series of Facebook posts, DepEd shared the Philippine flag artworks of the students from Silay South Elementary School in Western Visayas.
“Nagpamalas ng pagiging malikhain ang mga nasabing mag-aaral sa paggawa ng watawat gamit ang mga surgical mask, plastic straw, fingerprints, takip ng softdrinks, bulaklak, mga recycled na materyales, at pati na rin ang pagdisenyo ng cake (The students have demonstrated creativity in making the flag using surgical masks, plastic straws, fingerprints, softdrinks caps, flowers, recycled materials, as well as cake design),” the DepEd’ s post read.
The department said the art activity was initiated under the supervision of the students’ adviser, John Ronald Escaro.
