Check out the “Compendium” set up by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) and the Department of Trade Industry (DTI)- Board of Investments (BOI).

Compendium was created “to help match the developed products with local industries according to their needs,” the DOST said. It serves as a repository of 24 select Filipino technologies that are ready for adoption and commercialization, it said.

“It is crucial that the researches being conducted and developed by our scientists would be used by the public, particularly those communities and sectors who would need this,” DOST-PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Enrico C. Paringit said.

The DOST cited that its PCIEERD said the DTI-BOI have been working closely together to introduce research and development (R&D) products and services to different industry players and potential investors.

All stakeholders can readily access the Compendium, which can be downloaded through projects.pcieerd.dost.gov.ph, it said.

Visitors can also go to the website of DTI-BOI and click Compendium of Technologies under the Resources button to be redirected to the compendium, it added.

“This is the reason why we are starting our collaboration with DTI-BOI because they are giving much-needed support to these selected technologies, especially during the start of introducing their products and services to the market. It includes providing incentives to those technologies developed in the country and supported by DOST,” Paringit said.

He expressed the DOST’s all-out commitment to ensure the growth of the innovative startup companies and business enterprises in the country, together with the DTI and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

“Due to the passage of Innovative Startup Act, the three agencies have agreed to implement programs that would support our startups from the start including the aspect of research and development courtesy of DOST,” Paringit said.

He said to help startups grow, DTI-BOI can help in the funding requirements and provide them capital.

The DOST, DTI, and DICT signed on March 22, 2021, a joint administrative order (JAO), calling for the creation of a nine-man Steering Committee (SC) that would keep an eye on the full-blown implementation of the country’s Startup Development Program.

DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said with the signing of JAO, they were moving forward their commitment to implement Republic Act No. 11337 or the Innovative Startup Act.

Section 1, Rule 2, Chapter 1 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA 11337 provides that the DOST, DTI and DICT shall constitute the Steering Committee for the implementation of the IRR and the management of the Philippine Startup Development Program.

Under the JAO, the SC is tasked to "provide strategic guidance and oversight in the formulation, implementation, and development of the Program.”

Nine representatives from the DTI, DOST and DICT shall sit at the SC, as designated by their respective Secretaries.

The committee is expected to develop, implement, and update the country’s Startup development program; promulgate the appropriate policies, rules and guidelines for the coordinated implementation of the program; ensure that startup programs, benefits and incentives of host agencies are harmonized and properly aligned; and promote access to the benefits , incentives and opportunities for startups.
