Alexandra Trese has been making waves on the Netflix trending list since it came out the other day. Long
time fans of the franchise and anime fans have been waiting with bated breath to see the first Filipino
comic book series come to life on the small screen.


With much fanfare surrounding the release of the series, enlisting top caliber voice actors and actors
with Filipino heritage to work on the English dub, Netflix heavily invested in the authenticity of the
series.


Whether you’re a fan of the franchise or a casual viewer, here are some great ways to make the viewing
experience of “Trese” even more exciting.

  1. Watch each episode with a different dub. There are four audio dubs (English, Spanish, Filipino,
    Japanese) and four subtitles (English, Filipino, Japanese, traditional Chinese) available for
    “Trese”. Have fun with it and watch each episode with a different dub. Choose your favorite and
    finish the last two episodes with your preferred dub. In all the variations, you will hear
    Alexandra Trese’s voice actor recite each incantation in Tagalog.
  2. Read the comic book series before you dive in. If you want to find out more about the
    characters’ backstories to see how they translate to the anime, you might want to check out the
    seven volumes of the comic series that have been released by the team of writer Budjette Tan
    and illustrator Kajo Balidisimo.
  3. Try not to compare “Trese” to other anime. Many netizens have been trending how Alexandra
    Trese is like a Filipino version of “Attack on Titan’s” Mikasa Ackerman. While the two characters
    have similar features, they are two powerful women in different rights. Comparing “Trese” to an
    unrelated anime reduces the merits of the character, and the source material.
  4. Watch “Trese After Dark.” Netflix put together a half hour special wherein the series creators,
    show runners and actors share the behind the scenes prep they made before the anime's release. You will get to understand the creative process involved in coming up with the six-episode first season. They might even leave clues whether a second season will get picked up.
