Vilma Santos-Recto says 'no' to 1Sambayan

House deputy speaker and Batangas Representative Vilma Santos-Recto on Saturday, June 12, turned down an offer of the 1Sambayan Coalition to be one of its six nominees for the presidential and vice presidential slots in the 2022 national elections.

‘’I sincerely thank 1Sambayan for considering me. I have no plans for 2022. I am focused in assisting Lipa City in its vaccination program and in providing assistance to families who need it most,’’ Santos-Recto said in a brief statement.

‘’Furthermore, I have my legislative duties to attend to,’’ she added.

Santos-Recto is the wife of Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto.

Besides Santos-Recto, the five other nominees announced on Saturday were" Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Grace Poe, former Senator Antonio ‘’Sonny’’ Trillanes, CIBAC Party-list Representative Eddie Villanueva, and lawyer Chel Diokno.

Former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, one of the 1Sambayan convenors, said ‘’there may be additions ‘’ to the list.
