Why we still need Ben Platt as Evan Hansen

Adults playing teenagers in film and television is not a new idea.

Just look at “Grease.”

Or “Glee.”

It is as such that we were surprised with fans reacting quite negatively about Ben Platt reprising his role in the screen adaptation of the hit musical “Dear Evan Hansen.”

Personally, we think it’s a no-brainer inasmuch as he actually won a Tony for his stage performance.

Is it so wrong to allow the world to see him do it all over again?

It’s not as if he looks too old for the role.

He’s just 27 after all.

Note that Stockard Channing played high school teenager Betty Rizzo in “Grease” at 33.

And her performance earned her the People's Choice Award for Favorite Motion Picture Supporting Actress.

It’s a job, folks.

Why assign a real teenager when someone can do it better?
