PH records 6,686 new cases of COVID-19

The Department of Health (DOH) reports additional 6,686 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, while close to 200 people were confirmed to have died due to the viral illness on Friday, June 11.

The new infections raised the country’s total to 1,300,349. Of the total figure, 4.7 percent or 61,345 are active cases, the DOH said.

Friday’s case bulletin stated that 91.6 percent are mild cases, 4.3 percent have no symptoms, 1.2 percent are critical cases, 1.7 percent are severe cases, and 1.15 percent are moderate cases.

There were 3,190 patients that were tagged as recovered, bringing the recovery tally to 1,216,497, which represents 93.6 percent of the country’s overall case count.

However, the death is now at 22,507 after 196 more patients succumbed to COVID-19. The country’s case fatality rate is at 1.73 percent.

“Mahalagang alalahanin natin na dapat sinusunod ng mahusay ang lahat ng paraan na meron tayo upang labanan ang COVID-19 sa lahat ng lugar sa ating bansa (It is important for us to remember that all the protocols we have against COVID-19 must be followed carefully),” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire

“Nasaan man tayo, tiyakin natin na sumusunod tayo lahat sa ating minimum public health standards para sa kaligtasan nating lahat (Wherever we are, let's make sure we all follow our minimum public health standards for own safety),” she added.
