Manila LGU releases 8,000 2nd doses for 1st dose of A2, A4 groups

The Manila city government has released 8,000 COVID-19 2nd dose vaccines which will be used for the 1st dose vaccination of the A2 and A4 priority groups in the city on Friday (June 11).

The COVID-19 vaccines will be deployed in the city's mall vaccination sites -- Lucky Chinatown Mall, Robinsons Place Manila, SM Manila, and SM San Lazaro. A total of 2,000 doses will be deployed at each mall site.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said that those who were scheduled to receive their 2nd dose within two weeks will not be affected.

"Ang gagawin natin mga kababayan, tayo po ay magrerelease, itatabi natin yung buffer for 2nd dose for immediate deployment ng 2nd dose for the next two weeks at 'yung iba na pang 2nd dose ay gagamitin natin for 1st dose na siya namang susulian ng national government as per Secretary Galvez (We will release, we will keep the buffer for 2nd dose for immediate deployment of 2nd dose for the next two weeks while the other doses we will use for the1st dose which will be replaced by the national government according to Secretary Galvez)," Domagoso said on Thursday (June 10).

The local chief executive also said that he wants vaccine deployment in the city to be as fast as possible to protect the citizens.

"Gusto ko kasi walang masayang na araw. Bakit? kasi, kung tayo ay makapagbabakuna na sa lalong madaling panahon, darating ang araw na lahat tayo ay bakunado na at pag nangyari 'yun sa lalong madaling panahon ay muli na tayong makakapamuhay ng normal (I don't want to waste time because if we can be vaccinated as soon as possible, the day will come when all of us will be vaccinated which will help us get back to normalcy)," Domagoso said.

As of this writing, SM Manila and SM San Lazaro are no longer able to accept vaccinees because 2,000 people have already lined up for vaccination.
