Pride 2021: Bretman Rock is among Nike's #BeTrue campaign ambassadors

Fil-Am social media personality Bretman Rock has been a true advocate for LGBTQIA+ initiatives. What people also laud about him is his fierce fitness routine. Combining both aspects of his life makes him an obvious choice as one of Nike's 2021 Be True campaign ambassadors.

"Strength has no gender," Bretman posted on Instagram. "It's measured from within. I'm excited to announce that I'm one of Nike's faces for it #BeTrue campaign this year. Truly such an honor to be seen and heard from Nike. It's so surreal."

"Bretman Rock isn’t afraid to break the rules and blur the lines," the brand says. "The digital superstar owns his identity and finds fortitude and freedom in movement. With a strong foundation of supportive friends and family, Bretman has hit his stride and there’s no slowing down."

For years, the global athletic wear brand has been celebrating Pride month by releasing capsule collections inspired by the community's flags. According to the brand, this year's collection is centered on the idea that "sports can be the setting for racial inclusivity."

Nike's Be True collection features sportswear, from sports bra and training shirt to leggings, its iconic Blazer, Air Max, and Infinity React Run shoes, and more, all featuring a distinct rainbow flag-inspired design. Giving a more personal touch, the footwear line comes with nine LGBTQIA+ flags turned into velcro patches so wearers can customize their kicks.

"Sport is richer when it includes the diverse stories, backgrounds and orientations of every individual person," the brand says. "A wide spectrum of nine LGBTQIA+ flags, highlighting the personal stories deep inside each stripe color, is broadly explored in this year’s footwear, featuring a diverse set of flag patches that can be applied to the Blazer ’77 Low, the Air Max Pre Day, the All Out Utility Slide and the Infinity React Run 2."

Joining Bretman on the campaign are athletes Gia Parr, a trans advocate, and Shiho Shimoyamada, lesbian Japanese footballer.
