PNP says Leyte Rep. Veloso never included in its drug watchlist

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is not covered by the decision of the Court Appeals to remove Leyte Rep. Vicente Veloso III from the list of the alleged politicians involved in illegal drugs activities in the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday, June 10, the PNP stated that Veloso has never been included in the watchlist of the police's Intelligence Group of personalities involved in the operations of illegal drugs.

"The PNP Directorate for Intelligence has already represented before the CA that Leyte Representative Vicente Veloso III is not a subject of any information report," the statement read.

"Thus, as far as the PNP is concerned, we are not affected by the CA order since we have no record on Veloso’s inclusion in the so-called narco-list," it added.

The CA ruled in favor of Veloso who sought for court's intervention for his inclusion on the alleged narco-list of President Duterte.

A few of those who were included in the list, which was made public in 2016, ended up dead.

In its decision, the CA also directed the authorities to destroy all documents, records, and information related to Veloso's inclusion in the narcolist.

The PNP received the CA order on June 8.
