Over 7,000 more COVID-19 cases reported by DOH

Another 7,485 more people nationwide caught the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) said on Thursday, June 10.

The country's COVID-19 tally climbed to 1,293,687 wherein 4.4 percent or 56,921 cases are still active.

Of the currently ill patients, 92.6 percent experience mild symptoms, 3.2 percent are asymptomatic, 1.3 percent are critical cases, 1.7 percent have severe conditions, and 1.18 percent are moderate cases.

The DOH also confirmed 122 more deaths, bringing the death toll to 22,312 which is 1.72 percent of the overall tally.

It was also shown in the latest case bulletin that 4,504 more survivors were logged, raising the number of recoveries to 1,214,454. This represents 93.9 percent of the overall case tally.

The National Capital Region (NCR) Plus areas, Davao City, and Western Visayas are considered “epicenters” of COVID-19 due to the high number of infections being reported daily, the Octa Research group said on Wednesday, June 9.

To note, the NCR Plus areas include Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, and Bulacan.

The OCTA group also flagged the number of new cases in General Santos City, Cotabato City, Cagayan de Oro City, Zamboanga City, and Iloilo City.

Local authorities of the said areas need to further strengthen their testing, tracing and isolation capacities to curb the rise in cases, the research group said.
