Manila cops rescue 3 Chinese kidnap victims in Makati

Three kidnapped Chinese nationals were rescued by members of the Manila Police District (MPD) during a follow-up operation in Makati City, police said Thursday.

Police identified the rescued victims as Zhen Xiao, 24; Gao Feng, 29; and Lin Lin, 37. Lin is currently recuperating from her injuries at the Ospital ng Maynila.



Police were able to arrest one of the suspects identified as Jun Chen, 24.



Another suspect, identified as Wen Zhongyang, 22, and four other unidentified Chinese men remain at large.



The operation was launched at 10 a.m. on Dita Street in Barangay San Antonio, Makati City, after the Dagonoy Police Community Precinct in Sta. Ana, Manila received a phone call regarding a person who was handcuffed and asking for help on Opalo Street. The person turned out to be Xiao.



He was brought to the Police Station 6 and later to the General Assignment and Investigation Section of the MPD for investigation.



A follow-up police operation was then conducted on Dita Street in Makati City.



Upon arrival at the scene, the cops coordinated with members of Barangay San Antonio.



While conducting visual inspection in the area, police said a concerned citizen approached and told them that they saw a Chinese man jump to an adjacent house.



When they checked, they saw suspect Chen who was injured and lying on the floor.



Xiao was able to identify Chen as one of the suspects who kidnapped him in Pasay City.



Police investigators coordinated with Barangay Chairman Resituto Cajes of Barangay San Antonio to contact the owner of the house where Xiao was illegally detained.



Upon arrival of the house owner identified as Emmanuel Sylvestre, they opened the main gate and immediately entered the house to conduct inspection.



Police said that on the 4th floor they saw victims Fen and Lin who were hogtied to a steel bed. They freed the victims.



The arrested suspect will be charged with kidnapping and serious illegal detention while police are still locating those who remain at large, according to probers.
