The local "pasalubong" industry in Cagayan is seen to benefit a great deal from the completion of an access road leading to several villages in the municipality of Allacapan.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar said Thursday, June 10 that the newly-paved 1.02-kilometer (km) road will connect the barangays of Labben, Bessang, Capagaran, Mapurao, and Utan to the Junction Manila North Road, thus linking the food processing areas to larger markets.
"Pasalubong" is the Filipino word used for souvenir or any goods that are bought for loved ones when you come home from a trip.
The completion of the access road allows for the "faster and safer transport of products" such as coco jams, banana chips, buko pies, and vinegar to markets across Cagayan.
Villar said that in the past, farmers and owners of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) were forced to endure a bumpy road to distribute their crops and goods.
Aside from strengthening Allacapan’s economy, the newly-paved road will also provide the town with better access to schools, hospitals, and other basic social services available in nearby urban areas, the secretary added.
The road was improved under a P20-million fund. It covered the concreting of the 1.02-km road as well as the provision of canal structures and sidewalk facilities.
