Gov't appeals for patience on vaccine delivery; 2.2 million Pfizer jabs expected to arrive in PH

More coronavirus vaccines are on the way to the country, Malacañang assured the public Thursday after some vaccination hubs reportedly ran out of the life-saving jabs.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque asked for more patience on the vaccine rollout, citing that around 2.2 million doses of Pfizer vaccines are expected to arrive Thursday to boost the country's stocks.

"Kaunting pasensiya lang po, talagang nag-agawan po ang buong daigdig sa mga bakunang ito (We appeal for a little more patience. The entire world is really scrambling for these vaccines)," Roque said during a televised press briefing Thursday, June 10.

"Pero bagama’t matindi po ang agawan dito ay nakaka-deliver naman po tayo ‘no at inaasahan po natin na in the coming month, we will have more supply at lahat naman po tayo ay mababakunahan. Maraming salamat po sa kagustuhan nilang mabakunahan (Despite the scrambling for supplies, we managed to deliver and we expect that in the coming month, we will have more supply and everyone can be vaccinated. Thank you to those who want to be vaccinated)," he said.

Roque noted that 1 million doses of Sinovac vaccines arrived in the country Thursday morning. Additional Pfizer jabs are also expected to arrive on the same day, he said.

"Mamaya ay inaasahang darating ang mahigit dalawang milyon or 2,279,160 doses ng Pfizer vaccine (We expect the arrival of 2,279,160 doses of Pfizer vaccines later)," Roque said.

"Ito na, ayon sa National Task Force, ang pinakamalaking single-day delivery sa ngayon ng bakuna. Kabilang ang mga ito sa labing-isang milyong doses ng bakuna kontra-coronavirus na inaasahan nating darating ngayong buwan ng Hunyo (According to the National Task Force, this the biggest single-day vaccine delivery so far. These vaccines are part of the 11 million doses of anti-coronavirus vaccines expected to arrive this June)," he said.

Roque said the additional coronavirus vaccine supply will initially be distributed to areas with high cases of coronavirus.
