5 local fishermen arrested for illegal fishing in Bohol

Five local fishermen were arrested by the personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for illegal fishing in Candijay, Bohol on Wednesday, June 9.

In an incident report, the PCG said the fishermen were caught using a compressor while fishing in the waters off Barangay Panas, Candijay, Bohol.

The apprehended individuals were identified as Jason Pranom Salipong, Jame Miasco Enoc, Marnel Tremotcha IbaÃ±ez, Vence Albert Pagea, and Ritche Acojedo Dabasol from the municipalities of Ubay and Talibon in Bohol

The PCG said the use of compressor while fishing is a violation of Municipal Ordinance No. 13 Series of 2017.

The Coast Guard said the arrested individuals, their fishing paraphernalia, and at least three kilos of illegally caught fishes were turned over to the Municipal Police Station in Candijay for the filing of appropriate charges and proper disposition.
