Sign up for service contracting program, jeepney drivers urged
Jeepney drivers in Metro Manila who have been allowed to ply their usual routes were encouraged to register for the service contracting program of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

This, as the LTFRB announced the conduct of a mass general registration and orientation activity for traditional public utility jeepney (TPUJ) drivers from June 2 to June 4, 2021 at the Quezon City Memorial Circle. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on those dates.
The LTFRB said the general registration is open to all jeepney drivers who belong to the routes that have been reopened during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
In registering, TPUJ drivers will need to submit a photocopy of their professional driver’s license with three signatures,a certificate signed by the operator authorizing the driver of the unit, a valid ID, a photocopy of an OR/CR of the jeepney unit, a printed copy of a screenshot of a GCash account under the driver's name, and a photocopy of Certificate of Public Convenience.
If the jeepney unit was sold, the driver must present a photocopy of the notarized deed of sale (DOS) showing the name of the second owner of the unit. Those DOS dated August 2016 onwards will not be accepted.
Drivers may check the list online to determine if their routes qualify for the service contracting program.
The "no face shield, no face mask, no entry" policy as well as the strict enforcement of social distancing will be observed during the three-day event, the LTFRB said.
Under the service contracting program, drivers will receive payouts from the government based on the number of kilometers that they've traveled as opposed to the traditional "boundary" system.
