Manila gov't allows 4 more schools to conduct limited face-to-face classes

The Manila City government has approved the request of four more schools in the city — the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila, Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), PHINMA St. Jude College (SJC), and National University (NU) — to conduct limited face-to-face classes for their medical and allied health programs.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso met with the schools' representatives at the Manila City Hall on Tuesday (June 1).

"All approved," Domagoso said.

The schools submitted to the city government their respective plans on how they will comply with health protocols during the limited face-to-face classes.

"I trust everyone to follow the health protocols. Mas gusto ko 'yung kayo ang magkusang disiplina," Domagoso said.

Domagoso also approved the limited face-to-face classes of the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Centro Escolar University’s (CEU), Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), Metropolitan Medical Center, Manila Theological College, and Chinese General Hospital Colleges for their medicine and allied health science programs.

Domagoso also urged everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19 since the A4 category has been "simplified."

"It now includes all workers who are required to go outside their homes to perform their jobs. Kaya pwede na ang halos lahat. Antabayanan lang natin ang announcement na pwede na ang A4 (So almost everyone is now possible. Let's just wait for the announcement) and, of course, when vaccines are available."

The city government, through the Manila Health Department (MHD), is ready to help in case people get infected with COVID-19 in their campuses.

"We will make sure that every single cent that you have paid to the city is fully utilized to protect you from harm and, of course, hopefully from this virus," Domagoso said.

"We want to make you feel that Manila is a good place to live in. Mapapanatag ko man lang ang damdamin ninyo araw-araw (I want to give you a peace of mind everyday)," he added.
