Even if she drops out of 2022 presidential race, Robredo says she gave it all in public service
Vice President Leni Robredo said on Tuesday, June 1, she will have “no regrets” even if she does not run as president in 2022 because of the work she has done in the past five years.
“Whether I run or not, I’m sure that at the end of our term in 2022, I can honestly say na I did the best that I could...converting the office from ceremonial one into advocacy-heavy one. Wala akong regrets (I have no regrets),” she said during the weekly online show #ChooseDay Tuesday.

“And itong vice presidency, kahit pa hindi ako mag-presidente, masasabi ko (And this vice president, even if I don’t run as president, all I can say is) I made every second, every minute of the time given to me worth the people’s money no matter how little our budget is,” Robredo stressed.
It’s not about if she wants to become a president or not, the lady official said, but she needs to study the situation if she will be the best for the post.
Robredo shared that she was once offended by an email a supporter of hers sent to one of her relatives.
The supporter said that she will regret it if she walks away from the people’s clamor for her to run as the country’s next president.
“Parang sa loob-loob ko lang, bawat posisyon na hinawakan ko (In my mind, every position that I held), I made every second that was given to me count,” the vice president added.
“So ako, sigurado akong walang pinagsisihan (So me, I am sure that I will not regret anything).”
Robredo lamented that even her supporters do not see the reality of the situation, that it’s not easy to decide to run as president and her contribution could be to simply help unite the people.

It’s not that easy, she said, adding that the presidency isn’t just about her ambition.
“Iyong pagpe-presidente isang napakaseryosong bagay na kahit tumatakbo ka pa lang nagpa-promise ka na (The presidency is a very serious thing that even when you’re just running, you’re already promising that) for the next six years of your life is iyong bansa talaga ang aasikasuhin mo (you’re going to focus on the country),”she explained.
Robredo has never revealed her political plans for next year, although she’s open to either seeking the presidency or running as governor of her home province of Camarines Sur.
