Of 6,684 new COVID-19 cases, 972 came from Metro Manila, DOH says
Of the 6,684 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, the Department of Health (DOH) said 972 came from the National Capital Region (NCR).

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said this during a meeting with President Duterte on Monday, May 31.
He said 934 of the new cases were from Calabarzon, 753 from Central Luzon, and 4,025 from other regions.
Earlier in the day, the DOH also reported that six regions are showing faster trend increase in the recent one to two weeks compared to three to four weeks ago.
The Health department said these are Regions I, IV-B, V, VII, VIII and CARAGA.
"Nationally, we are seeing 12 regions with a positive two week growth rate and high average daily attack rate," the DOH said in a statement.
The 12 regions with positive growth rate are Region IX, CARAGA, Region X, Region 4B, Region VI, Region XII, Region I, Region XI, Region VII, Region V, Region VIII and BARMM.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, meantime, said that the surge in cases in Visayas and Mindanao can be considered as "multifactorial."
"When you look at the factors, it is multifactorial," she said in a virtual forum.
"The factors that are in the Visayas and Mindanao are similar to the factors in the NCR. If you will look at the factors for transmission, they are all the same," added Vergeire.
She said they include mobility of the people, delayed health-seeking behavior, and the presence of the different COVID-19 variants, among others.
