Into online dating? Parañaque PNP warns vs. virtual interactions

Days after members of the Parañaque City Police rescued an abducted Chinese Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) worker, Police Chief Col. Maximo F. Sebastian Jr. warned the public against social media dating.

In an interview on DZBB, Sebastian said netizens should not believe everyone they meet on social media.

"Ang panawagan ko lang ay huwag basta-bastang magtiwala sa any transaction (I advise everyone not to easily trust any form of transaction)," he said.

"Kasi may mga nag-lu-lure dito na mga babae para i-date po itong mga Chinese, at the same time iyon na, mangyayari na iyong krimen (These Chinese nationals will get lured with women who will ask to date them, and that's where the crime will start).”

On Friday (May 7), policemen arrested two Chinese nationals and as well as four Filipinos for allegedly kidnapping Chinese POGO worker Li Le Le, 20.

According to the police report, the arrest stemmed from the complaint of suspected illegal detention of two Chinese nationals which was immediately acted upon by Parañaque Sub Station 3 personnel.

"Huwag po tayong magpapaloko sa social media... Iyong mga pag-cha-chat natin dapat ‘wag tayo basta-bastang maniwala kasi itong mga Chinese national po natin na kaibigan ni-lu-lure po ito sa ka-chat nila (Don't get fooled on social media... Don't trust easily the people you chat with because our Chinese friends get duped through chatting)," Sebastian said.
