DOH encourages Filipino Muslims to celebrate Eid'l Fitr at home amid COVID-19 pandemic

The Department of Health (DOH) encouraged Filipino Muslims to celebrate the Eid'l Fitr at their respective homes to minimize their risk of contracting the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

" DOH strongly recommends praying and celebrating Eid at home to keep yourself and your family safe from COVID-19," it said in a statement.

The celebration of Eid'l Fitr will be on Wednesday, May 12.

For those who are planning to go to places of worship, Filipino Muslims should strictly observe the health protocols, the DOH said.

"Always observe physical distancing of at least one meter and wear your face mask and face shield properly. Ensure there is proper ventilation in place of gathering and limit interaction to 15 minutes. Always wash or sanitize your hands, especially after touching high-touch surfaces," the DOH reminded.

"If you feel any symptoms, do not attend any gathering," it noted.

The DOH said that “after attending celebrations, immediately isolate yourself for a minimum of 14 days and stay in a room separate from your family members who did not physically attend any gathering.”

The health agency said that they should monitor themselves with any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, lethargy, loss of smell and taste, body aches, headache, sore throat, clogged nose, red eyes, diarrhea, or skin rashes.

“If you experience any of the symptoms above, contact your Barangay Health Emergency Response Team,” the DOH said, or call telemedicine hotlines for medical concerns and consultations.
