The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) urged different dioceses nationwide to offer a “special intention Mass” on May 9, Sunday, in preparation for the conduct of the 2022 general elections.

“On May 9, it will be exactly a year before our 2022 National and Local Elections (NLE 2022). This year, May 9, falls exactly on Sunday. We chose this day to symbolize the start of PPCRV’s efforts in preparation for NLE 2022, a challenging role amidst a pandemic, as well as our commitment and continued resolve to safeguard the electoral process,” the PPCRV said in a statement.
“We have sought the blessings of our dioceses all over the Philippines for a special Mass on May 9, 2021 for PPCRV and its mission of Champ: Clean, Honest, Accurate, Meaningful, and Peaceful elections.
The PPCRV said that May 9, 2021 marks “as a good day” to remind the Filipinos of their right to suffrage.
“They too can give back to the nation with faith-inspired choices of future leaders in 2022,” it said.
“It is a reminder as well as that volunteerism for safeguarding our choices in our elections is an excellent gift of service to God and country,” it added.
Amid the pandemic, the PPCRV said the people have seen “the importance of authentic servant leadership.”
“We at the PPCRV view this as a good opportunity for our citizens for self-introspection; about performance, accountability, sincerity, integrity, all characters and values they should be looking for in 2022,” it said.
“These qualities have become the foremost consideration of a public servant, as to whether a community unites, survives, let alone thrives, in the most challenging times,” it added.
The PPCRV said that the Mass on May 9, 2021 is “just a start” as it “calls for our people’s prayers for our nation as we countdown” to next year’s elections.
