PAGASA: ITCZ to bring rain showers, thunderstorms over Mindanao, Eastern Visayas
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over parts of Visayas and Mindanao this weekend, the state weather bureau said Saturday, May 8.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ will prevail over Mindanao while the easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean will persist over the rest of the country.
PAGASA weather specialist Alcazar Aurelio said warm weather conditions will be felt over the entire Luzon.
“Inaasahan pa rin natin ang matinding init ng panahon lalo na sa bandang tanghali at sa hapon (We still expect hot weather conditions especially around noon and in the afternoon),” Aurelio said.
He noted that there is still a chance of isolated rain showers due to the localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or in the evening.
Moreover, temperatures reaching a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius may be felt in Tuguegarao, he added.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and the provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi due to the ITCZ.
State meteorologists warned that flash floods or landslides may occur during moderate to at times heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
