DSWD cited for compliance to FOI requirements

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has been cited for its compliance to the enhanced Freedom of Information (FOI) requirements in 2020.

The DSWD thanked the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) for recognizing the agency as among the government agencies that complied with the FOI requirements last year.

It described the special citation as a testament to the agency’s full commitment to the people’s right to information.

"With this citation, the Department remains committed to provide the public and other various stakeholders with correct, relevant, and timely information, especially even during the pandemic,” the DSWD said in a statement.

It said the certification has been given to different national government agencies pursuant to Section 5.7.b of Memorandum Circular No. 2020-1, issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Harmonization of National Government Performance Monitoring, Information, and Reporting System.

As it thanked the PCOO, the DSWD vowed to create more transparent platforms and the application of comprehensive information dissemination to recognize and protect every Filipinos’ right to information.
