PCG rescues 3 local fishermen aboard troubled boat in Boracay
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued three local fishermen onboard a distressed motorbanca off Boracay Island in Aklan on Friday, May 7.
In an incident report, the PCG said the fishermen encountered an engine trouble after they went to fish in the vicinity waters of Sitio Diniwid.
The fishermen departed Barangay Yapak and headed to the sitio around 4 a.m.


The PCG said the motorbanca lost its battery and drifted at sea for several hours before they were spotted by a concerned citizen, who immediately reported the sighting to the PCG Station Aklan.
A search and rescue (SAR) team from the PCG Station Aklan was deployed to fetch the fishermen.
Luckily, the fishermen did not bore any injury, the PCG said. The identities of the fishermen are yet to be confirmed as of this posting.
Meanwhile, the motorbanca was towed to the nearest shoreline for a repair.
