Make mom happy this Mother's Day with a container garden

Bouquets, chocolates, and personalized tokens. These are the most common mother’s day gifts that are available in the market. But if you’re looking to create a more meaningful gesture that will surely make mom smile, try making a container garden just for her!

Start by buying a large ceramic pot and quality potting soil. Make sure that both the pot and soil are well-draining to prevent the plants from being waterlogged as it can cause root rot or drown the plants.

Next, focus on the centerpiece. Choose an upright shrub or perennial that would fit the pot well. Consider plants that have colorful leaves or showy flowers and can withstand your local climate.

Fill in the remaining spaces with a variety of mid-size plants that are also colorful or interesting. Cram them in close to make the container garden look lush and full. Leave a small space near the edge of the pot to fit in some trailing plants to spill over the side to create a more layered look.

Mom will not be the only one who will be happy with this gift. Since flowers attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, Mother Nature will also be grateful for this small token made from flowers, plants, and your heartfelt effort.
