ITZY sells 200,000 copies of new album 'Guess Who' in first week of release

K-pop girl group ITZY has sold more than 200,000 copies of their fourth mini-album “Guess Who.”

According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, “Guess Who” garnered sales of 200,130 copies in the first week of release from April 30 to May 6.

The total is 55,775 copies more than their last album “Not Shy,” released on Aug. 17 last year, which racked up 144,355 copies in sales in the first week of release.

On Hanteo’s physical album chart, “Guess Who” sold 64,119 copies (first place) on the first day on April 30 followed by 9,380 on May 1 (first place), 3,047 on May 2 (third place), 75,652 on May 3 (first place), 23,896 on May 4 (first place), 111 on May 5 (17th place) and 23,925 on May 6 (first place).

On “The Chart Show with Brooke Reese” on Apple Music 1, ITZY discussed their new album.

“This EP, ‘Guess Who,’ we are exploring a more deeper and more darker concept than the previous album. As you know, the base is confidence, but a little deeper and darker,” said Ryujin.

Yuna said working on “Guess Who” became “kind of a new challenge for us. So I was surprised to find the new aspect of me. Yeah. That's very intense for me. Yes.”

Chaeryeong said, “And every part was new for me. So when I prepared this album, I was a little bit worried, but at the same time (it) was very interesting.”

About the carrier track of the album “In the Morning,” Ryujin explained, “Our title track ‘In The Morning,’ is based on the mafia game. In Korea, we do the mafia game and it's not a real mafia, but in this song we are doing the mafia role. So we conceal our feelings in the daytime and we threw everything and reveal ourselves in the nighttime. So you can see the two sides of us. So ‘In The Morning’ that literally means that in the morning you will be mine."
