Pangasinan town warns residents of lockdown

SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan (PNA) – Mayor Julier Resuello has warned residents of them imposing a lockdown should they continue not to strictly follow the standard health protocols set by the national government in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“I asked the barangay officials to monitor their constituents in their area. I am giving them this week. If the people will continue to not abide by the protocols, I will declare a lockdown,” Resuello said on his Facebook account.

Resuello said a lockdown will be a burden to the people including the national and local government workers, but he is willing to do so if the COVID-19 cases in the city continue rising.

“Please take care of yourselves and of your families’ health for all of us to be safe,” Resuello told his constituents citing as an example the COVID-19 situation in India.

Meanwhile, Resuello is encouraging the residents to actively participate in the vaccination survey being conducted by the city health office (CHO).

“We have a surveying team roaming the barangays, gathering data to identify who is eligible to get a vaccine. So please participate,” he added.

Resuello urged residents to provide factual information so they can include the names of individuals who are interested to receive the vaccine based on the prioritization list.

Based on the monitoring of the Provincial Health Office, San Carlos City has the most number of active cases of 88 out of the 7,784 total confirmed cases in entire Pangasinan as of 9 a.m. on May 5.
