Photos shared by the Manila mayor on Facebook showed some units already furnished with dining sets and beds, among others.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Domagoso said each unit will measure 20 square meters in lot area and 42 square meters in floor area, and will have two bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, study area, and service area.

The project began construction in December 2020.

"Masaya ako at excited ako para sa inyo. Loobin nawa ng Diyos na matapos agad ito para magamit niyo na po ito kaagad (I am happy and excited for everyone. I hope God allow us to finish the construction immediately so that people can use it soon)," Domagoso's post on Wednesday (May 5) read.

"Kaunting hintay nalang po, mga minamahal kong kababayan. Hindi po porket mahirap ang ating pamumuhay ay hindi na po tayo magkakaroon ng pag-asa sa ating buhay (Just wait a little longer, my beloved countrymen. Just because we are poor does not mean that we will no longer have hope in our lives)," he added.

The BaseCommunity project is in line with the local chief executive's dream to provide each Manila resident, particularly the poor, a decent and affordable housing.

Under the Land for the Landless project, the Manila city government has also begun construction for Tondominium 1, Tondominium 2, and Binondominium.
