Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens

Nova Stevens, Canada's bet for Miss Universe 2020 pageant, is a true beauty inside and out. While the start of her journey was met by unlikely comments from Filipino fans, she maintained her grace, stood above hate, and spread the word of love like a queen that she is.

As she said, "there is more good than evil in this world." And proving that there is more to Filipinos than those sad remarks are talented fashion creatives who celebrated Nova. Last month, she revealed that Dubai-based Filipino couturier Michael Cinco will be dressing her for the pageant.

The Canadian anti-racist activist traveled to the Middle East, not only for a series of fittings, but also for a fashion shoot merging the beautiful terrains of Khorfakan, Fujairah, UAE and the opulence that comes from the couture dresses made by Filipino designers.

Photographed by Adam Browning-Hill and art directed by Filipino fashion creative Rhon Balagtas, the fashion editorial features Nova in bold, vibrant, and dramatic gowns by Michael Cinco. Another piece she donned is a lavish tulle ball gown by Jaggy Glarino, making her a fashion oasis in the middle of the desert.
