Ateneo hosts QC COVID-19 vaccination site

The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) opened its Grade School cafeteria as a venue for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination of some of the residents of Quezon City.

The vaccination site, which is being operated by the Quezon City local government unit, was opened on Tuesday, May 4 as part of the university's concrete response to the needs of the community during the pandemic.

It is open for Quezon City residents who belong to the A1, A2, and A3 priority groups with confirmed slots.

"The Grade School cafeteria's structure is an ideal place for mass vaccination operation, with wide open spaces and good air circulation," ADMU said.

"The area around the cafeteria also allows for more spaces for patients who will have to wait their turn to get inoculated," it added.

Some of the volunteers working at the site are from the Ateneo's School of Medicine and Public Health.

ADMU has also put up a quarantine facility for asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 patients. The facility was established in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross and the local government of Quezon City.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines Los BaÃ±os (UPLB) lent its gymnasium as an additional COVID-19 vaccination center.

UPLB also tapped its medical professionals and support staff to assist the inoculation of Los BaÃ±os and Bay, Laguna residents.
