The Department of Health (DOH) said it will “act accordingly” on the distribution of the antiparasitic drug Ivermectin last week in Quezon City.

"We will act accordingly, according to existing laws that we have, according to identified violations, according to accountable persons. That is what we will do. We are on to that position and direction to uphold what is provided for by the law," Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a virtual forum Monday, May 3.
She revealed that they have already coordinated with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) regarding the matter.
"We have already sent a formal letter to the PRC last week and they have acknowledged it already. We gave them anecdotes and reports we have received regarding these invalid prescriptions," said Vergeire.
"We would like to know their opinion on the practice of profession by those healthcare workers that join the event," she added.
Last week, the DOH and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reiterated that it do not recommend the use of Ivermectin for the treatment of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) due to insufficient scientific evidence.
