5,683 added to COVID-19 cases in PH

More than 5,000 have been added to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country on Tuesday, May 4.

The case bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH) showed 5,683 new COVID-19 cases which brought the total number of cases in the country to 1,067,892.

The DOH also reported 9,028 new recoveries and 97 new deaths.

Total recoveries rose to 984,210 while total deaths climbed to 17,622.

The DOH said of the 66,060 active cases, 94.6 percent were mild, 1.7 percent were asymptomatic, 1.2 percent were critical, 1.5 percent were severe and 0.98 percent were moderate.

Fifteen duplicates were removed from the total case count, the Health department said, as 11 of these were recoveries.

"In addition, one case was found to have tested negative and has been removed from the total case count. The case was a recovery," it said.

The DOH added that 40 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

All labs were operational on May 2, 2021 while 21 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS), it said.
