Fans oppose Lee Seung-gi's GF due to stepdad's past stock manipulation scandal

Korean fans of actor Lee Seung-gi, 34, star of the K-drama “Mouse,” have expressed their opposition to his romantic relationship with actress Lee Da-in, 28, because of her family background.

Lee Da-in, whose drama credits include “Alice” in 2020 and “Doctor Prisoner” in 2019, is the daughter of actress Kyeon Mi-ri, who is best known as the villain Lady Choi in the hit drama “Jewel in the Palace.”

Lee Da-in and actress Lee Yu-bi, 30, are sisters. They are the daughters of Kyeon Mi-ri and her first husband Im Young-gyu, who divorced in 1993.

Kyeon Mi-ri got married in 1998 to businessman Lee Hong-hyeon, who became Lee Da-in and Lee Yu-bi’s adoptive father after he legally adopted them.

Lee Hong-hyeon was sentenced to three years in prison in 2011 for manipulating stock prices and was released on parole in 2014.

Kyeon Mi-ri was also investigated after she was accused of investing in the company and profiting about 4 billion ($3.58 million).

In 2016, Lee Hong-hyeon was investigated again for manipulating stock prices and was arrested. He served as a director of a KOSDAQ-listed company from November 2014 to February 2016. He was accused of illegally earning a profit of 2.3 billion ($2 million) from selling stocks.

On Nov. 11, 2018, he was sentenced by the Seoul Southern District Court to four years in prison and a fine of 2.5 billion won ($2.24 million). In August 2019, the Seoul High Court acquitted him.

Fans are opposing the romance due to Lee Da-in’s stepfather. Recently, a truck hired by fans parked near Lee Seung-gi’s house in Seoul.

The truck carried the message, "It is okay that you didn't know. But now you should know. They made so many people victims." according to the Korea Times, referring to the stock manipulation controversy.
Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in's relationship was confirmed last May 24.


"We checked with Lee Da-in herself, and she confirmed her relationship with Lee Seung-gi. It's been about five to six months since they started dating, and they're still getting to know one another," said Nine Ato Entertainment, SBS News reported.
